I made a Dragon cake!!!! More specifically a Dungeons and Dragons cake. I was terrified about having to sculpt a dragon out of fondant, but the little guy came out pretty good in the end! I worked in sections (head, body, tail, legs, wings) and seamed them together. For the scales, I used a small heart shaped cookie cutter (the point side) pressed and pulled up gently in the fondant.
For the books, I used a really fantastic book tutorial here as a guide. It was a huge help.
Every part of the dragon and books were hand painted using Americolor gel colors and water. Black petal dust was used for shading after food coloring had dried. I also used TMP Super Gold and Super Silver for a few of the accents.
Products I used to color the Dungeons and Dragons Cake:
Americolor Soft Gel Paste Food Color, 4.5-Ounce, Super Black
Americolor Soft Gel Paste Food Color, 4.5-Ounce, Super Red
Americolor Soft Gel Paste Food Color, 4.5-Ounce, Chocolate Brown
Charcoal Black Petal Dust by GSA
TMP Super Gold
TMP Super Silver
